Thinking about my childhood I can see the process of me learning that you become what you inteded not to be when you were younger. Somewhere in the process of becoming an adult you either choose to live your life to be druged by illusion, or to be awakened by the truth. I chose the last option, and avoided the first.
I thought of playing but I didn’t think about the details of the game. Unconsciously I learned that details weren’t necesarry when I found out that asking my parents to play outside was enough to get the permission to do so. Then I started to play with other children and I noticed the differences.Different sorts of talent, character and faith. I learned that our uniqueness is only defined by the details. I decided to live my life embracing that uniqueness. When I noticed someone thinking or acting different than me, I respected it. The least we all deserve is to be ourselves in a world full of details.
As I grew up I continued to learn that details, no matter how small they might seem, could have a big impact on the kind of world we live in today. A world were:
- The neigbourhood you grew up in, or skin color, seemed to give the other enough reason to decide your personality;
- Were the amount and sort of mistakes of the past could decide your future;
- Were religion seemed to give a person enough reason to kill;
- Were a score on a test seemed to give someone the right to decide your intelligence.
We basically live in a world were uniqueness is demanded but at the same time is being restricted. That means that we live in a time were being yourself means that you won’t be treated equally. And thats how our own uniqueness became a source of discrimination.
